What will you be doing?
JOB ROLE:
As a member of our Insights team with a focus on merchant insights, you will be responsible for providing market-leading analysis of the global payments industry. You will have exposure to CMSPI’s unique data set, allowing you to identify macro- and microeconomic trends that affect retailers across the world. Day-to-day, you will be conducting analysis on the impact of industry changes such as fee increases, drafting presentations and reports, and presenting insights to Fortune 500 retailers. Your role will have an impact right away, forming the basis of our work with the world’s largest businesses and shaping CMSPI’s strategic consultancy.
As an Economics Analyst your responsibilities cover, but are not limited to, the following:
- Creating and presenting industry-leading reporting to Tier 1 merchants on some of the biggest challenges in the payments market
- Researching and drafting bespoke economic, regulatory, and market impact analysis reports for the world’s largest retailers to support their payments strategies
- Contributing to the development of CMSPI’s broader strategic consultancy
- Providing content to drive sales and engagement processes, with opportunities in new customer and product segments
- Investigating industry competition and the impacts of market intervention on the behavior of supply chain participants
- Creating thought-leadership materials including white papers, blogs and insights reports
- The opportunity to present at high-profile industry events such as conferences and webinars on the latest developments in payments
What we are looking for...
REQUIRED:
- Educated to undergraduate degree level with a minimum overall 3.3 GPA in an Economics-related discipline with a high level of numeracy skills
- Some demonstrable business experience (including internships)
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities with the ability to apply logic, creativity, and problem-solving techniques
- Experience using Microsoft Office and especially strong skills using Microsoft Excel to analyze data
- Excellent written skills – ability to write in an insightful, accurate and persuasive manner
- SQL/Python experience a plus
- An appetite to learn, and the ability to present market research insights in an engaging way to influence business decisions
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at any one time
- A second language is desirable but not essential
- Prior payments knowledge is good to have but not essential
